 What is FAME?

FAME is a program of the arts for children run by parent volunteers. Each lesson contains some exposure of an artist, a musician, and then a hands-on project for grades K-5th. This program was written and started by a classroom teacher over 20 years ago when the funding for the arts and music programs were cut. This program now reaches 40,000 students each year nation wide.

Three years ago Altamont Creek started this program and each year we set aside time for 3 lessons, usually fall, winter and then in the late spring.

Students come as a class with their teachers to learn about a famous artist and their artwork, along with a famous musician and their type of music. It then concludes with a hands on art lesson. F.A.M.E is approximately 40 minutes long for each class.

If you would like to help out with this program, pleases contact Cheryl Blea at 447-2850.

Altamont Creek appreciates all the volunteers that have put their time into this wonderful program.

Andy Warhol
American Pop Artist
1928-1987
What did we learn?

We studied Andy Warhol the most famous artist of the sixties, he brought Pop Art to our world, and the Beatles the most famous music group of the sixties. We learned about harmony because the Beatles do it best! We listened to their music and then we did some pop culture hands on art Andy Warhol style, with reproduction of a picture. We used really cool new pens that had this magic that would not let you make a mistake with and we highlighted Sponge Bob, Chicken Little, dogs, fish, and cats, etc.  Did you know that Andy Warhol had 25 cats all named Sam?  Great little tidbit the children loved.
Andy Warhol would of been proud of all Altamont Students K-5th.
