Welcome to Altamont Creek Elementary School Website!
2007-2008
We are very proud that under the supervision of JoAnn Carey, our Computer Technician, the students of Altamont Creek have helped to prepare this site. You will be able to find the latest school newsletter, pictures from special school events, articles by students, information regarding our Parent-Teacher Association, and a complete staff list. Through our website, we hope to convey to you the positive, safe, and exciting learning environment that has been created by our school community.
The successful education of all students is our number one goal. Altamont Creek serves kindergarten through fifth grade students, including two Special Day Classes and a Full-Inclusion Program. At this time, we have approximately 600 students.
Exceptionally talented teachers as well as a caring support staff make student achievement possible. The LVJUSD and State Content Standards guide classroom lessons and activities. In addition, we are able to provide many programs to meet the varied learning needs of our students, including: Science Lab, Computer Lab, Library, 4th and 5th Grade Music, Gifted and Talented Education, Special Education Services, and English Language Development for English Learners. You will find that the entire school staff is truly dedicated to serving the needs of our students at Altamont Creek.
The importance of educating our students can also be seen by the efforts of our incredibly supportive and involved parent community. Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is extremely active, providing funds that support some of our important programs, like Computer Tech and Library Tech hours, field trips and camps, student materials, and much more. Our PTA also holds many fun community-building events throughout the school year. Additionally, parent volunteers spend countless hours helping in the classrooms, chaperoning on field trips, and assisting in the R.I.S.E. (Reading Is So Essential) program.
This year, our school and our PTA have many exciting community events planned. These include Back-to-School Night, the Spaghetti Feed, Family Math Night, Trick o Door Night, Winter Wonderland, the National Geographic Spelling Bee, a Multicultural Potluck, Family Science Night, Family Movie Nights, Family Literacy Night, the Wind Festival, and Open House. We hope you will be able to attend these fun events!
Through our website, you will see our school community in action. Enjoy your visit!
Warmest Regards,
Candice Flint-Torres
